As an electrical engineer and an electronics hobbyist I found it easy to wire up the parts from the instructions, but if you know very little about electricity you might not find it so easy. The programming instructions are almost impossible to follow. I just set the proportional, the derivative, and the integral control values to zero which made the PID controller a bang-bang controller. (It was not easy to figure out how to do that from the instructions.) For my oven this had the effect, that when my oven reached the set temperature (1600 F) it turned off, then dropped about 12 degrees, and then turned back on, which was okay for what I was doing. Even though the box I used to mount the parts had plenty of air holes, and I used the heat sink provided for the relay, the box got rather hot. This worried me, so I added a small fan from an old, broken computer power supply and that kept the box cool.
